Welcome to Eaglefest 2005!!
It's all about "The Power Factor"!!

Bronze, Silver, Gold.All part of the Olympics. Marcie Blandford won a gold medal this summer in the Summer State games in the 200m dash and a silver medal in the shot put. In the state softball competition, Chris Addington and Dustin Austin were on teams that won the silver medal.

Going away for 5 weeks in the summer to a college campus was no problem for Julia Morgan, Kevin Reel , and Grant Todd. They participated in the Governors Scholar program at Centre College .

Others studied out of state as part of Lead America. Trevor Scott traveled to Chicago, Chris Conkright to Washington , DC and Audra Owsley to Washington also.

Apollo is proud of its Air Force Junior ROTC!! At the Kentucky Summer Leadership School Ryan Hatfield was selected as the Honor Graduate, the top cadet at the school. Ashley Bidwell ranked second in the final standing. Spenser Girten was the academic trophy winner for the top score on the final exam. Recognized among the top 15 cadets as distinguished graduates: Ashley Bidwell, Spenser Girten, Aaron Layson, Kevin Hardesty, and Ben Shaw.

The following students passed the KOSSA last spring. This assessment covers those skill standards that are taught in career preparation courses. The certificates are endorsed by industry representatives in KY and are also signed by the Governor of KY.

Our academic team is known state-wide. I would like to invite to the stage: Thomas Cameron, Rose Krzton-Presson, Elizabeth Rogers, Ryan Seabolt, Lauren Thomas, and Ian Wilkey Particiapating in the 2005 National Academic Championship in Arlington , Virginia were Thomas, Rose, Elizabeth, Ryan, and Ian . The 2005 KAAC Governors Cup State finalist were Thomas, Elizabeth, Ryan, Lauren, and Ian. The 2005 Academic Worldquest State finalist- Thomas, Elizabeth, Ryan, Lauren, Ian. Congratulations students for your accomplishments!!

The 9th grade academic team placed 3rd in the state!! Members were: Derrick Gauselan, Alex Krampe, Cheryl Kreke, Rose Krzton-Presson, Emily Jones, Matt Reynolds, Courtney Schisler, Alison Schroeder, Lauren Thomas, Whitney Thomas, Chelsea Tipmore, and Kaytee Williams. Congratulations!!

Only a small percentage of high school students throughout the country are named semi-national merit finalist. Apollo is proud to have one--- Ian Wilkey.

The 2004-2005 FFA awards. The Apollo FFA was rated the #1 FFA chapter in KY. The chapter was the state runner-up in the KY community development contest. The Apollo FFA was the state fair champion in corn exhibits and placed second in the wheat and soybean exhibits. Individual awards:

  • Susan and Sarah Kuegel have been selected to participate in the national talent showcase at the national FFA convention in October
  • Agriculture mechanics team was the state runner-up,team members- Cory Warren, Jesse Goodall, Kyle Thompson, and Kody Vanover
  • 3rd in the state job interview contest- Jimmy Gilles
  • Agronomy team placed 3 rd in the state- Brandon Gilles, Tyler Thompson, Bryan Kuegel, Blake Hamilton

The National Association for Agriculture Education recognized Mr. Tucker, Mr. Morgan, and Mr. Story for having the outstanding agriculture program in KY for 2004-2005.

  • Mr. James Morgan was recently elected as the state president of the KY Ag Teachers Association.
  • Mr. Aaron Tucker was recently elected as the state treasurer of the KY Ag Teachers Association.

Wish you could speak a foreign language? You are not alone. But some students are striving towards that goal. The following placed in the top 10 in the state on the national Spanish exam in March:

Regional first and second place winners Jeremy Taylor, Grace Oh, Ian Wilkey and Ashley Warren competed at the state Foreign Language competition at UK . Ashley Warren placed 1st in state in listening comprehension of Spanish. Ashley will be recognized tomorrow at the Kentucky World Language Teacher's conference at the Hyatt-Regency in Louisville . She will receive the Kendall Smith Kentucky Star Award for her first place finish at the state competition, Congratulations!!
