JUNIOR GUIDANCE NEWS 10/18/05
Governor's Scholars Program is a stimulating, five-week, residential summer program for outstanding Kentucky students completing their junior year in high school. There will be 11 students selected from Apollo High School . Students who are in the 11th grade at the time of selection and have taken the ACT, SAT or PSAT (given on October 12th) are eligible to apply. If students have not taken one of those tests, there is one given on October 22nd . If students have not registered for the October 22nd test, it is possible to be a "walk-in" on that test date. There is an ACT administered in December, but it is not likely that test results will be returned in time to apply. Students who are selected to participate in this program will receive most or all tuition paid at all public and private schools in Kentucky . There is also a category for a student who demonstrates extraordinary potential despite personal, familial, and/or socioeconomic challenges. These students are Commonwealth Scholars and are in addition to our 11 -student allotment. Applications are available in the guidance office beginning October 17th. They are due in guidance on Thursday, December 1st . For more information, go to www.kygsp.org or contact Kathleen Kreke in guidance.
