These photographs were taken from a book that was created
after Apollo Junior High opened, in 1969. A copy of this
book was included in the school's first yearbook. The
book has some pictures of our school the way it was when
it opened.
This quote was taken from the book: “What
we really seek in education is not knowledge, but the
wonder, beauty, romance, and above all, the adventure
of learning. The adventure of learning is essential to
man because of his very nature”.
This was said by Fred Taylor Burns, who
was the Superintendent of the Daviess County School System
in 1969.
Apollo Junior High, which was designed for
900 students, was a total of $1,261,855.00 to build.
