Basketball Tournament, big success!

The Apollo High School boys’ basketball team played and won in the Sweet 16 basketball tournament in Lexington on Thursday, March 16, against Covington Catholic advancing to play and win against Mason County on Friday, March 17. This led to a state semifinal game and another victory on Saturday morning against Louisville’s Pleasure Ridge Park (PRP) High School.  On Saturday evening, the Eagles played valiantly against Jeffersontown High School in the finals of the tournament but came up just a little short.

The Eagles represented their school, our district, their families and friends, and themselves with the highest levels of good sportsmanship, teamwork and effort, and we are extremely proud of them! Team members are pictured above greeting some of their fans at Burns Elementary School before leaving for Rupp Arena.

Congratulations to Coach Tony Hopper and every member of the 2005-06 Apollo Eagles team and thanks to each of you for an exciting season that set the standard for a “winning attitude!”
