Strong literacy skills, such as reading comprehension, writing, higher order thinking, listening, speaking, and discussing are essential in today’s competitive world. Just as we need to acquire and develop these skills in literacy, we also need to understand the cultural diversity of our nation. As our country continues to blend people of all cultures, we continue to learn from and about one another. To pursue both of these goals, you are going to explore a wonderful book of multiethnic short stories, compiled by Donald Gallo, written for teenagers and young adults! The book addresses important issues in the lives of all teens, seen through the eyes of culturally diverse young people. As you begin your quest for multicultural knowledge and literacy growth, open your mind and prepare yourself for glimpses into the lives of teenagers very different from, yet so similar to you. Allow yourself to gain new perspectives of the people around you and the cultures they represent! Use the links on the left side of each page to navigate your way through this webquest.
