The Technology Education department at Apollo High School has consistently outperformed other schools with the quality of classes, and the excellent services of the teachers regularly remind members of the Apollo Eagle Family how privileged they are.
Currently, only two teachers and their classes make up the Tech Ed department. Below is a picture of each teacher and a list with descriptions of their classes. - Drafting 1
[Description]
|
Drafting deals with visual communication. Students have the opportunity to work with machine drawing, architectural drawing, and graphic communication using AutoCAD and 3D modeling software. Students, interested in engineering, drafting, architecture, or related fields such as interior design, landscaping, or building trades are encouraged to consider this course. |

- Technology Concepts
[Description]
|
This course provides an introduction to a variety of computer technology topics including Computer Graphics, Pre-Engineering, Drafting, Programming, Web Page Development and Computer Animation. |
- Technology Design
[Description]
|
This class combines the use of AutoCAD with conventional engineering practices and includes the following design and construction units: bridges, highways, skyscrapers, power boating, maglev vehicle, rocketry, etc. The course focuses not only on hands-on projects, but also on scientific laws which relate to each topic. The major goal of the course is to expose the student to the varied types of engineering careers, while incorporating the latest technology. |

- Graphic Arts

This is a hands-on course of study that provides the student with the basic experiences in the massive area of printing. Students experience layout and design on the computer using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and CorelDRAW to create images. They then use Macromedia Dreamweaver, Flash and Adobe Pagemaker to publish their images to both print and web pages. A flat bed color scanner, digital camera, and thousands of clip art files serve as input to allow students to design and create almost any graphic design. The content includes activities and instruction in vinyl sign making, screen printing, computer graphics, and web page production. |
- Webpage Design

This class provides students with the basics of web-page production. Areas covered are organization, planning, content, layout, theme development, image manipulation, image placement, and text development and placement. Each student learns the process of developing a web page, refining the content, and posting it for public use. Students work individually and in groups to make changes to the Apollo Web page on a weekly basis. |
- Architectural Drafting

This course is designed to allow students to explore fields of architecture, construction, and engineering. In the architecture portion, students draw a set of house plans of their own design, which includes floor plans, elevations, details, plot plans, electrical plans, and others. |
